birthday with a several thousand people. The Hispanic Democratic
club of Baltimore and many Hispanics from Montgomery County joined
the celebration. KKT, accompanied by Admiral Larson her running

Meeting with Hispanics in Baltimore (June 26)
For quite some time now, the Baltimore Hispanic Democratic Club
has declared for Kathleen. In close contact with other Democratic
clubs of the area, BHDC has quietly worked to bring about the election
of the Lieutenant Governor. On June 26 KKT's representatives met
with BHDC representatives to discuss isues of importance to the
Hispanic community which the new Governor must address.
At a reception in Patterson Park during the Latino Fest -- where
BHDC had a booth for voter registration -- KKT in person, accompanied
by her newly named running mate Admiral Larson, met with several
members of the club among which were Jorge Austrich, the president,
Paulette Pettit, the Secretary, and Gilberto De Jesus, Richard Colon,
Bill Villanueva, and several others. Richard Colon introduced Kathleen
to the huge festival audience and Jorge Austrich led her around
the booths and vending areas. KKT even danced salsa with a member
of the audience and seemed to enjoy herself. "The state needs
you for our economic development" she told the audience "Hispanic
immigrants are what will make us strong."
Jorge
Austrich told Coloquio Online that the future governor will
make her priorities: 1. the presence in all courts and public buildings
of Spanish language translators; 2. the availability in Spanish
of all publicly disseminated documents; and 3. the hiring of Hispanics
for all types of jobs throughout the State government.
The Baltimore Hispanic Democratic club will prepare a series of
initiatives to further the cause of the candidate. Among them will
be meetings, fundraisers, voter registration, door to door canvassing
and poll watching during the vote. Persons interested in joining
the campaign or the Baltimore Hispanic Democratic club can contact
