Mayor
O'Malley introduces police Majors to the citizens
Flanked
by his cabinet and members of many departments, the Mayor explained
the efforts of his administration to combat crime in the city. Commissioner
Norris introduced the new district Commanders and the Mayor
asked for questions or comments. Beltran Navarro, a member
of the Hispanic community and a candidate for the State Central
Committee approached the microphone and praise the Mayor and Commissioner
Norris for their excellent job in fighting crime. Specifically,
Navarro mentioned how "from seven Hispanic officers and a lonely
Hispanic sargeant" before O'Malley's time, the force has gone
"up t0 over one hundred Hispanic officers and a Hispanic Lieutenant
Colonel and there are no Hispanic drug dealers." In the picture
above, we see Sargeant Rufino Garcia, Jose Ruiz, Mayor's
Liaison with Hispanic Community and Beltran Navarro. Below left,
Commissioner Norris with M. "Jay" Brody, President
of the Baltimore Development Corporation and right, Israel Patoka
