Hispanic Theatre
presents Its Traditional THREE KINGS’ DAY CELEBRATION
GALA Hispanic Theatre is pleased to announce its annual celebration
of the Three Kings’ Day on Sunday, January 5, 2003 at
2:00pm at the Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th Street,
NW (15th & Euclid Streets, NW). This celebration is a free,
bilingual event for children and families, featuring local singers,
dancers, storytellers, gifts, as well as the traditional Nativity
scene with a live burro (donkey) and other animals.
For more than 27 years, GALA has preserved this popular traditional
Latin American holiday, making it possible for families to celebrate
an important expression of their cultural heritage.
NBC Channel 4’s Mary Alice Salinas, will be Master of
Ceremonies at this year’s event. The talent includes the
celebrated singer María Isolina, winner of the OTI International
Song Award; the acclaimed folk dance group, Los Quetzales; and
flamenco dancers Lourdes Elías and Jaime Coronado of
the Spanish Dance Society, as well as dancer Sara Candela. The
event will culminate with the arrival of the Three Kings and
the distribution of gifts
to all the children in the audience.
Admission is free, but each child should bring a gift (clearly
identified for boy or girl and of a value of no more than $3.00)
to exchange with the Kings. Traditional refreshments, including
churros and hot chocolate will be served.
This year’s program is produced in partnership with Washington
Parks & People and the Council of Latino Agencies; with
generous support from NBC Channel 4; Salomon Smith Barney, Inc.,
a member of Citigroup; Heller’s Bakery; and Cristina Caballero
of Dialogue on Diversity.

Anuncia su Celebración Tradicional de los Reyes Magos
GALA Teatro Hispano se complace en anunciar su celebración
anual de los Reyes Magos que tendrá lugar el domingo
5 de enero a las 2:00 PM en el Josephine Butler Parks Center,
2437 15th Street, NW (15th & Euclid Streets, NW). Este festejo
gratis consistirá de un espectáculo bilingüe
de danza, música, cuentos y juegos. Como siempre, el
evento culminará con la representación de la Natividad
y la llegada de los Reyes Magos.
Durante más de 27 años, GALA ha celebrado este
importante festejo tradicional de herencia latina.
Este año, la animadora será la conocida periodista
del noticiero del Canal 4 de la emisora NBC, Mary Alice Salinas.
El espectáculo cuenta con la participación de
reconocidos artistas locales, incluyendo a María Isolina,
ganadora del Premio OTI; el conjunto de danza folclórica,
Los Quetzales; y los bailarines de flamenco, Lourdes Elías
y Jaime Coronado del Spanish Dance Society, acompañados
por Sara Candela.
La entrada es gratis, aunque se sugiere que cada niño
traiga un regalo (claramente marcado si es para niño
o niña, y que no tenga un valor más de $3.00),
que será distribuido por los Reyes Magos al final del
espectáculo. También se servirá el típico
chocolate con churros.
Este proyecto es una colaboración entre GALA Teatro Hispano,
Washington Parks & People y el Consejo de Agencias Latinas,

Teatro de la Luna ha comenzado su nueva temporada en
el Gunston Arts Center, 2700 S. Lang Street en Arlington, VA. Como

DC. De enero a marzo del 2003 el VI Festival Internacional
de Teatro con Hispano con Teatro del Exilio presentará
teatro de Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, México,

The Latin American Folk Institute and the Arlington Cultural Affairs

Regularly featured with the bands of Eddie Palmieri,
Celia Cruz and Oscar D’Leon,
Washburne has been called “one of the best trombonists in
Salsa” by The New York Times. Appearing as Special Guest star
will be Grammy-nominated percussionist BOBBY SANABRIA,
who will join in this program of music. Washburne will present original
works, as well as classics by the late maestro Tito Puente
(with whom Chris performed on his Grammy-winning final CD release),
to whom this program is dedicated.
