¡No to War in Iraq!
La guerra es el último paso a dar. Es la realización de que hemos fracasado en las negociaciones y no ya queda otro remedio para resolver una cuestión de vida o muerte. Es la brutalidad final. Los obispos católicos americanos ya lo han dicho claramente: la necesidad de que el enemigo dé 30 el primer golpe es absoluta; sólo entonces se puede justificar una guerra que, en todo caso debe ser defensiva.

En 1990, el primer presidente Bush fue a la guerra para parar a Iraq que había invadido Kuwait. Iraq dio el primer paso y el resto del mundo se alió con EE.UU. para hacer retroceder a Sadam Husein. Pero esta vez es diferente. Iraq no ha atacado a nadie y el primer golpe parece que lo quiere dar EE.UU. y, como consecuencia, el mundo no está con el segundo presidente Bush. Los primeros ministros de varios países europeos han firmado una carta de solidaridad con Bush, pero sus ciudadanos se están manifestando diariamente contra la guerra en Iraq.

Lo que se necesita es un acuerdo total de apoyo a las Naciones Unidas para mantener la ley y el orden internacional en este mundo. El hecho de que el presidente Bush esté a cargo de una potencia mundial no le da derecho para atropellar a las naciones que se opongan a su hegemonía. Ya el número de ciudadanos americanos en favor de la guerra está cayendo precipitosamente. Excelente. Ayudemos a la causa de la paz y opongámonos terminantemente a la guerra. No to War in Iraq
Please join me in signing an online petition asking President Bush to let the weapons inspections work, rather than rushing to war. If we don't act now, we could be at war by the end of the month.
Inspections in Iraq have started. Most of us breathed a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, it's become clear that the ultra-hawks in the Bush administration -- Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle -- will not take yes for an answer. While the rest of the world thinks Iraq has backed down, these men are pursuing a massive public relations blitz for war.
With the possibility of a peaceful resolution to this crisis at hand, we cannot allow a few men to push the world to war. Send a message to President Bush and Congress to let the inspections work at:

The good news is that the ultra-hawks face some serious opposition. Secretary of State Colin Powell and other members of the Bush Administration are willing to give diplomacy a chance, and the State Department's interpretation of the U.N. resolution is a lot more reasonable than the White House's interpretation.
President Bush has agreed that war should be the very last resort. Let's hold him and his Administration to those words:
