Coloquio is growing

For years (since 1986), Coloquio was published as a magazine. Since 2002 it is now on the web as a webpage and the success it is obtaining has crossed the borders of our area, our state and our nation. It is truly global.

For the month of September, 56,398 visitors had made 60,989 visits and viewed 241,492 pages of our electronic magazine, coloquio.com! In addition to those from the US (the overwhelming majority) these visitors came from all over the world: Mexico, Netherlands, Canada, Spain, the UK, Peru, Germany, Chile, Australia, France, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and, even Vietnam, Israel, Malasia and Malta!

There are reasons for this. In addition to being a voice for the Hispanic community of Baltimore-Washington DC, Coloquio.com has universal appeal. Our correspondents speak to all; many articles speak to the human condition and, above all, Coloquio.com fosters the language, culture and condition of the Hispanic community everywhere. Famous Hispanics (http://coloquio.com/famosos/) is a compilation of Hispanic historical figures of great significance. Many students use the site for their research and term papers and write to us to tell us so. Los Toros (http://coloquio.com/toros.html) is one of the few but highly visited pages on bullfighting, a uniquely Hispanic art practiced in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and France. A variation of this fiesta is now practiced in California. Flamenco (http://coloquio.com/coloquioonline/flamenco.htm) is a compilation of flamenco websites throughout the world great exponents of this very Spanish music and dance. And many other sites regarding the Club Andalucia de Maryland, The Holy Week in Seville, etc. find a home in Coloquio.com

We will continue to grow and we will try to cover all the news and local information about the Hispanic community available to us. We will continue acquiring correspondents on several fields of interest to our community. And, as has always been out motto, we will be impartial and fair in the treatment of politics, religion and social problems presenting all sides of the controversy to the best of our ability.

Meanwhile, thank you, dear readers for the warm reception you give coloquio.com everytime we send you notice of our upgrades. Remember that you can subscribe, free, to receive notice of updates. Just email coloquioonline-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and add yourself to the list.
