A good man and a gentleman
Luis Borunda, Mexican American, Californian, Hispanic and a personal friend has ended his chairmanship of the Baltimore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, an organization he founded with some us in 2000. During his short two-year tenure the chamber went to 75 members and a treasury of over $20,000. More importantly, the chamber became the premier Hispanic organization in Baltimore, highly recognized not only in the business world -Hispanic and non Hispanic- but also in the social, political and organizational worlds. First and foremost Luis has been responsible for the chamber's success. His suave demeanor, his understated approach and his gentleman's touch have earned him friends and the respect of all who know him. His political skills have brought him to the top echelons of the Republican party at a time in Maryland when being a Republican is a good thing. With political ambitions, it is very possible we will see Luis as an elected official in the not too distant future. We hope so. During a brief controversy with another Republican splinter group Coloquio had this to say about Mr. Borunda: " ... (we agree) with Mr. Borunda that Hispanic Republicans have gotten further ahead than Hispanic Democrats in the State of Maryland, not in a small part thanks to Mr. Borunda's skillful political acumen and his outstanding stewardship of the Baltimore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Hispanic Republicans could not have a better Chairman." Good luck, Luis

Iraq and the Election 2004

As our readers may have noticed, Coloquio Online has two new fora-The War in Iraq and the Election 2004- dedicated to elevate the discourse on two of the most important issues of our time. Readers have begun to react and the first contribution has been from our newest correspondent Larry DeWitt. Larry, an extremely intelligent, articulate writer, offers his wonderfully lucid prose to our readers, articulating a populist view of both the war and the election. Although we do not fully agree with his views, Coloquio is very pleased to have a correspondent of Larry's stature helping us elevate the discourse and illustrate our readers. We invite our readers to send us their views and continue the dialog.
