Subject: English only?

What a load of crap. My great grandparents emigrated from europe, not speakling english and had to learn it through the immersion method. It was painful at first but it worked well for my grandfather and he slowly built up his own business, becomming a sucess in this country.

He did not look upon himself as a victim and afford himself the 'special status' as you seem to advocate. I do not see by birthright why the rest of American society should kiss your ass and make whatever ethnic group you represent, somehow 'special'. The fact is, the vast majority of Americans speak English as a first language and you should accept that. It is part of the price one pays for emigrating to this country.

I support English Only and believe that one day, it will become part of the legal landscape, even if that means passing a constitutional amendment to do so. That does not forbid ethnic communities from speaking their own language or appreciating their own culture, but it does prevent 'special status' and would make your 'valuable' contribution towards society, no more or less important than mine. It's time to fight this politically-correct nonsense and give back to society what you take.
