Born
in New York City to Cuban parents, the tall, handsome Romero made
his Broadway debut in 1927. Long associated with 20th Century-Fox,
Romero often played Latin Lover types. Romero is best remembered
as "The Cisco Kid" and in the role of Hernan Cortes
in "The Captain From Castile". He continued to star
throughout the 1950s and in 1953 he starred in the series "Passport
to Danger". In the 1960s he played the "Joker"
on the "Batman" series and in the 1980s he became famous
again in "Falcon Crest." Romero died of a blood clot
on New Year's Day, 1994, at the age of 86.
