This famous Spanish composer was born in Cádiz and at an early age was already composing music of great quality and realism. Audiences received his music with enthusiasm.

He made an exhaustive study of Spanish folk music, in particular the "Cante" (singing) of Andalucía. This made him a national composer in the deepest sense of the word. His best-known work is "The Three-Cornered Hat" but his prolific body of work is well known throughout the world.
